For cyclone collectors running continuously, we recommend a zero-point check every 90 days and a full span calibration annually. Grain dust tends to settle on sensing lines, so verify that impulse lines are purged before trusting any reading.
It depends on the media. Cartridge filters in woodworking typically need attention when ΔP exceeds 1.5 kPa above the clean baseline. For baghouses handling grain dust, a 2.0 kPa rise usually signals blinding. Always compare against the manufacturer's clean-media spec for your specific filter.
Branch resistance changes as filters load unevenly. A branch closer to the fan will pull more air until you balance static pressures at each pick-up point. We measure static pressure at every branch, adjust blast gates, and re-check transport velocity at the farthest point to get uniform extraction.
Permeability measures how easily air passes through clean filter media under a set pressure. Pressure drop reflects the actual resistance during operation, including dust cake buildup. A permeability test on a sample tells you about media condition; ΔP tells you about system performance. Both matter for scheduling maintenance.
Pulse cleaning restores some capacity, but not all. If permeability has dropped below 60% of the original media spec, cleaning rarely brings it back to an acceptable level. We recommend testing a sample before deciding. In grain mills, over-cleaning can drive fine dust deeper into the media and make things worse.
We measure static pressure at the fan inlet and outlet, check each branch's pick-up velocity, log ΔP across every filter bank, and compare readings against the system's design curve. You get a report with baseline values, problem points, and a prioritized list of adjustments. Most audits take one shift on site.
